Visible Exhibition Opening | Sunday, June 11th 1pm-3pm
Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods
21850 N. Riverwoods Rd.
Riverwoods, IL 60015
Brushwood Center’s exhibition, Visible, presents artworks from twenty-six artists from Lake County, Chicago, and beyond. This exhibition consists of interviews, maps, and artworks highlighting how systemic inequities impact people’s access to a healthy environment, and how our resilient community is already working to create change.
Visible is a companion exhibition to the new Health, Equity, and Nature Accelerator report: Health, Equity, and Nature: A Changing Climate in Lake County, IL, working to interpret these often invisible realities into the universal language of art. In this exhibition, we examine both the findings of the report, and hear from artists as they explore the question of what health, equity, and access to nature means to them.
Join us for the opening of Visible on Sunday, June 11th which will include a family-friendly performance from Grupo folklorico México en la piel, a panel discussion featuring exhibition artists and moderated by Natalia Ospina (Director of the Health, Equity, and Nature Accelerator), a kid-friendly exhibition walk-through with Dani Abboud (Director of Community Programs and Partnerships), and other additional family activities!
Refreshments will be provided by Drip and Culture.
NOTE: The walkthrough of Visible, as well as the performance do not require registration. Registration is only required for the Artist Panel and Find Yourself Outside Activity as space is limited. Families are invited to join the 2pm artist panel. However, an optional kids nature activity will be facilitated by our youth educators during the panel for any children that want to head outside while their caregivers enjoy the discussion.
This event is free and open to the public!
